Juvenile Justice Clearinghouse Open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. for phone orders; Research Division open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m to 5:00 p.m. Karma Academy for Boys Residential Treatment Program for boys 13-18 who are emotionally disturbed, sexually or physically abused, or "out of parental control." Provides group family counseling and group psychotherapy, confrontation groups, chemical dependency groups, and Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous. Also provides therapy for sex offenders in this age group. Lawyer Referral Service Provides client referrals to lawyers who charge $50 for a half-hour consultation. They also provide a reduced fee for low income client and a Pro Bono Project which provides free legal services for qualifying low income clients in the areas of spouse abuse, divorce, criminal law, family law, bankruptcy law and immigration law. open 10:00 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday for Pro Bono. Open 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Lawyer referral in every area of law. Legal Aid Bureau Provides free legal service to qualifying low income individuals on public benefit matters, certain landlord-tenant matters, senior citizen matters and homeless representation. Open 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. National Organization for Victim Assistance (Nova) This organization can be reached 24 hours a day. Volunteer crisis counselors/intervenors can assist any victim or witness of major crime or crisis at no cost via one-on-one crisis intervention or group crisis intervention sessions. Parole and Probation Psychiatric Clinic Provides psychotherapy for abused children and their families and to adults abused as children. Provides counseling to battered spouses and has Parents Anonymous groups for parents and their children. Open 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday; some evening appointments. Social Services Child Support Jewish Social Service Agency Provides public assistance benefits, child and adult protective services. Accepts and investigates reports of suspected child abuse. Provides services and referrals for abused children, adults and their families. Provides financial and placement services as well as counseling services. Provides homeless and emergency services. Open 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday; 8:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday. State's Attorney's Office Provides pre-trial information and accompaniment for witnesses and victims through court proceedings and gives referrals to outside service providers.
