MCI-H inmate taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries

TOWSON, MD (May 9, 2012) – A Maryland Correctional Institution – Hagerstown inmate was taken to Meritus Medical Center by ambulance Wednesday with non-life-threatening stab wounds.

Investigators identified a possible assailant, who is currently being held in administrative segregation while the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services Internal Investigative Unit looks into the incident.

Inmates were being let out of their cells for lunch when the assault happened at about 11:45 a.m. DPSCS investigators retrieved the weapon that was used in the assault.

The victim is serving time for drug possession while the alleged assailant is serving time for second-degree murder. No additional details about the two inmates involved will be given.

Maryland Correctional Institution – Hagerstown is a medium-security institution located on Roxbury Road south of Hagerstown.
