CUMBERLAND, MD - Inmates in Cumberland are making one of the largest donations this season to the Western Maryland Food Bank.

The Western Correctional Institution in Cumberland raised $1,200 for a food bank by selling hoagies to the inmates. The inmates used money they make from working jobs or from their families.

The food bank distributes the food to 105 agencies, serving more than 10,000 people.

"We've had a 10 to 12% increase in ask from community people so we are really excited about this donation, particularly because it will help us get the food we need to distribute," says Diana Loar, Executive Director of the Western Maryland Food Bank. "

The non-profit serves low-income individuals, including seniors and those who can't leave their homes.
