Looking to Volunteer within DPSCS?
The Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS) utilizes volunteers to enhance services in areas including faith-based, legal assistance, housing, mediation, parenting skills, drug treatment, employment readiness and many more - services that correctional and community supervision staff alone could not possibly extend to the tens of thousands of individuals under supervision in Maryland. Such programs and their volunteers assist offenders from the time they enter the pre-trial system, all the way through to parole or probation, giving them the tools necessary to become law-abiding citizens.
Volunteers can also be used in administrative areas of the Department, such as finance, procurement and statistical analysis, as well as victim services.
Internships are also a volunteer opportunity for those looking to further their educational experience. As the state’s largest criminal justice agency, DPSCS is a great place to gain hands-on knowledge of the field.
Please contact the DPSCS Office of Volunteer Programs to learn more about opportunities and be matched with a program that fits your individual talents, availability and interests. To see a listing of current volunteer recruitment, click here.
